Pēteris Vasks – Grāmata Čellam
German cellist Simone Drescher plays this extraordinary piece in two movements. The first, very intense movement deals with aggressive sound material casting a spell over anyone watching. The second one starts out like a silent improvisation until Simone Drescher’s unique voice completes the meditation over the book, the prophecy that Vasks seems to have put into music.
The location used for the shoot reflects the sober consolation that the piece gives us personally.
